Anita D. Spitz, MD
Family Practice and Medical Acupuncture

Office Policy

We do our best to see people on time. To help us keep our – and your - costs down, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you are not going to be able to keep an appointment.  We charge current patients $25 and new patients $35 for not keeping their appointment.  We accept checks, cash, and credit cards.

Refills

Generally if you need refills it is because you are due for an office visit. Refills are generally authorized 24 hours after being reviewed.

New Patients

While Dr. Spitz has a busy practice she realizes that she is unique in her offering of both alternative healing methods and traditional treatments. These two approaches are complementary, and sometimes one works better, and sometimes the other. Therefore she is limiting new patients for general family practice to those who are willing to also accept alternative treatment such as acupuncture, electrical treatment with the Alpha-Stim, and vitamins and supplements. In addition, she would be happy to see patients who have another primary care doctor in consultation to see if the alternative methods will be beneficial.

Insurance

The practice accepts some insurance plans, including Medicare, though not all. Some plans do not allow her to practice medicine the way she believes it should be practiced.  She no longer accepts these, although no plans have been dropped in the last three years. You should check with the desk to determine if your insurance plan is accepted.  Generally, if you come for treatment, a non-accepted plan will reimburse you for some of the cost, and the desk will be glad to provide receipts so that you can process a claim. We also provide a discount for cash paying patients for which we do not file insurance.
